Direct replacement for Marples MPS10189 blade
This Shark blade is nearly identical and a direct replacement for the old Marples MPS10189 blade, with one caveat. The Shark blade has a lot of clear topcoat on it. At least one I got. This made it hard to slide the Shark blade into my Marples handle. You may need to scrape or sand some of this anti-rust coating off of the tangs to get it to slip in to your old handle.

Marple saw owners ....
...rejoice.If you have an original Marples draw saw, this blade will fit the handle.(http://www.amazon.com/Tools-Dovetail-Detail-4-Inch-213104/dp/B0001GLEZI/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424442311&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=marples+draw+saw)Apparently the Marples company was gobbled up by the same (more than likely) hedge fund that gobbled up Irwin Tools which in turn sent their manufacturing to a very large Communist Asian country that starts with the letter "C". Which is why you cannot buy replacement blades for your Marples saw (which now say "IRWIN" on them); they've made it cheaper just to buy a whole new saw. But then you get what you pay for.But I digress. This is an excellent quality blade much like the one that came originally on the old Marples saws. It's made in Japan which is where these draw saws originally came from and still do. The blade fits the handle snugly and appears to have some heat treating of the teeth. The teeth are very fine, without a set and cut beautifully; this blade will restore the surgical precision of your original saw. While not specifically a flush cut saw, you can flush cut with it as it is flexible enough for the task. That being said, because of the blade's flexibility you need to stabilize and guide it a bit, use a little finesse, when using it for regular cuts. This saw comes in handy for a lot of cutting projects around the home. I used it to cut back the door trim at floor level when I installed some laminate flooring in a bedroom. The sharpness and flexibility of the blade made easy work and saved me from having to rent a special tool for the job. It was during that job when the blade hit some hidden finishing nails and the need for a replacement blade arose. Not wanting to throw away a perfectly good handle, I checked my local Big Box home stores and found the old Marples saw now marketed as an Irwin product (and made in China). I searched online and, as usual, Amazon was *the* place. I don't know about you all, but this idea of disposable stuff and cheap Chinese everything the Big Box home stores sell these days just irks me. It is refreshing to find I can still buy *quality* tools (and even support US manufacturing) by shopping through Amazon.Overall an excellent blade that fits the Marples handle. Marple saw owners rejoice.

Sharp and delicate
I bought this blade because I damaged the original by not being careful with it. I like the tool, and the replacement blade arrived in good shape and slipped right in. Just a warning to be gentle with it. This is not a tool for cutting branches in your yard or drywall repair, it’s for flush trimming box splines and through tenons.

One of the most useful saws I own
I wore out the original blade for this saw with regular use, and was pleased to see that replacements are available. Lube the edge with paraffin and let the blade do the work. Few things in life are as rewarding as doing a neat job at the workbench, and this little saw makes that so much easier.
