I use it check trail cams. I plug it into my phone,and bam, all of the pictures show up right there in their own album. It actually gives you an option to import all, or only selected pictures. After you're done, it gives you the option of deleting the photos off of your memory card. I used it once today to transfer RAW images from my Canon DSLR to my iPhone and it worked just the same. Sometimes with the Apple, I have to reinsert a few times in order for it to start working and this one worked as soon as it was connected.
