It adds some water resistance at the cost of looking and feeling cheap. The molle straps are sewn in so they cannot be replaced with quick straps, and they are a bit flimsy for my taste. If you properly weave it through the molle straps on your gear and its own straps, it still holds just fine. The straps are also a tight fit for buttoning if weaved properly, as the straps are about 1/4" too short, but again, they work. Overall, far from perfect, but you can't beat the price at $5/bag.
