Game changer for my senior kitty
My sweet senior cat is in the early stages of kidney decline. She is also on prescription urinary food for kidney stones which seems to make her coat dull and shed a lot. I noticed she was looking distressed and lethargic so I decided to go down the rabbit hole of supplements that could help her in the areas needed, but also not cause stones. These popped up immediately & I have purchased other treats by the same brand previously.I’m am now on my 2nd bag with her. She gets two a day AM/PM. Her overall health & energy have improved immensely! Her coat is also improved with less shedding & has more sheen. Also, I have had zero issues with her not wanting to eat them or being too hard. In fact she meows like crazy when she hears the bag.

Instant hit!
My 17-yr-old DSH was just diagnosed with Stage 2 this week. He's now cycling his way through the expensive foods and turning his nose up at all of them (Royal Canin, Hill's, etc). While I'm sure he will get hungry enough eventually to eat one of those, I was so relieved when he went right for these after I opened the bag... and begged for more! (He's coming down from Temptations addiction :)It's kind of pricey for the amount (120 treats; each treat is approx. the size equivalent of about 1.5 Temptations), but it's nice that I can give him something to help ease the transition, and also nice that I don't have to have an Rx for this like for his other food types, so I can just order as needed. Highly recommend!

A great addition to CKD diet!!!
My albeit, rather robust 18.5 yr old cat was diagnosed with CKD (chronic kidney disease) in Sept 2016. Against my better judgement I went with the food the vet that I had then, had prescribed. My cat lost 2.5 lbs and 1/3rd of his fur in 2weeks. I returned the junk and did some research.I changed his diet to a low phosphorus food (Purina NF dry (which is also lower in protein) & Weruva and/or BFF canned). In early January 2017 I added the VetriScience Renal Essentials. At the end of January 2017, his BUN had come down but still in the OMG range, phosphorus was within normal limits, creatinine was at the high end of normal and he had gained his weight back.I have continued this regimen. I have not restricted his protein any further than what this diet regimen contains. He gets 4 Renal Essential "treats" per day as directed on the label. His July blood-work was amazing! His BUN & creatinine were both at the high end of normal, but not elevated. His phosphorus was once again, mid range. He is 4 times more active than he was a year ago and the vets (our new ones) are amazed at how "robust" he is for a cat that will be 19 this fall!!!I gave this product a 4 out of 5. The reason being, that Renal Essentials is a part of his healthy diet; I believe it has played a large part in in getting him on the right track but it is not the one thing that made a difference. The right food choices have also played an important part.Suggestion: If your cat gets tired of the 'treats' I suggest soaking 2 in a tablespoon of water. Pour the 'treat water' on his wet food both AM & PM feedings. Kitty will get the extra fluids it needs AND the Renal Essentials. Remember, with CKD, wet food is more important than the dry!

Horrible smell
Don’t buy this under the guise of chew in which a cat would like. It’s medicine, super strong smell, even covered in cat food cat won’t touch it. You can’t return it either.

Not for my picky old man
Smells and feels like a quality product but my old senior cat wanted nothing to do with them. Wouldn’t even taste them-he’d smell them & then with nose up in the air walk away.

Vital for helping our cat with Kidney Disease.
We have four cats in our household, one of which was recently diagnosed with Kidney Disease. She had been fighting a severe infection that her poor little body just could not flush out and had been on multiple rounds of antibiotics. Our new vet who has turned out to be absolutely amazing and vital to improving the health and life quality of our fur babies, recommended these treats. She said this will help support the renal function making it easier for our baby to fight any future infection and prolong her life. We started using this supplement along with another that was recommended and have seen a vast improvement in her health. She is infection free and thriving. I haven't seen her so happy or playful in months. There is no cure for Kidney Disease but there are things you can do to slow the progress, extend their lives and give them a better quality of life. After hours of research and many questions with our vet I have learned that Kidney Disease is common with domestic cats and most often starts between seven and ten years old. The earlier the detection, the longer and healthier life. Hydration is key, we feed exclusively wet food as cats, unlike dogs and other animals, don’t obtain the majority of their hydration by drinking but rather from their food. Kibble actually dehydrates them and causes the kidney disease to progress faster with increased symptoms and discomfort. In addition to hydration, supplements like these can help their kidneys to “deteriorate” slower. They also offer support, like in our case, working to acidify her urine and helping to clear the infection. With KD they are unable to process the hydration intake as well and their urine becomes dilute which can contribute to infection. Cats with KD are at risk for having more frequent infections that are harder to resolve due to this. So this supplement is vital to her long term care. I’m so thankful that this product is available. All of our cats are street rescues. One is of an unknown age but is at least seven years so we started giving him these supplements as well in the spirit of prevention. He LOVES these treats and often tries to steal them from the other cat.

It is all about taste, and it bombed!!!
My cat is not picky. So when he repeatedly refused to eat even a small piece. I am sure these are low or poor quality. Not their fault my cat doesn't want to try them but he isn't usuall picky either. I suggest you revamp your taste goals and parameters to appeal to more diverse cat palette.
