Review: IT WORKS VERY WELL - I have had my Katchy for more than three years. I was introduced to it in Vietnam when i was visiting family. I was very impressed and came back to the US and bought one myself. IT WORKS VERY WELL. It is best at catching small flies, gnats and great at catching mosquitos. I have found that it does not catch house flies well, but they don't really bother much. I even took it with me when I went to Africa for over a year. It really kept the mosquitos down. I know that people have said many negative things about this, but from my perspective almost all of what they complain about is user error or expectations that are unrealistic. Keep the sticky cardboard changed and place the Katchy in an area near an entrance or where it can be seen clearly by the little flying buggers. I like my Katchy.

This device has a steep price tag, and the description sounds a little exaggerated--like a sales pitch. But fly-tapes don't work--they catch 'em, but they are SO messy (touch one with the elbow of a shirt, and by the time you've gotten loose, the shirt is ruined). Sprays don't work that well--they can't keep up with the gnats' reproductive rate--and you toxify everything else in the room. So in desperation I tried the Katchy. It comes professionally packaged--reminding me slightly of an iPhone. But once out of the boxes, I became suspicious. It's just a blue (ultraviolet?) light over a vacuuming fan blowing on a circle of sticky paper. I thought, oh, no, this thing is for mosquitoes! I don't have problems with them. But I turned it on. I let it run for an hour or so, wondering if it would catch anything--that particular day there didn't seem to be any gnats (I had emptied all the garbage). I checked it. Happily the bottom is hinged, and with a click of the release, it drops down, revealing the circle of sticky paper. Five captures! I was impressed. I let it run for the rest of the day (again, this was a day in which the gnat problem wasn't bad), and I saw its sticky floor was sprinkled with a dozen or more, including other bugs. As a loyal American who respects tradition (and therefore never reads the instruction manual first) I ran the thing all day and night, then found out the instructions are to run it only at night! I don't know about that. I am not bothered by gnats at night. I am bothered by them in the daytime. The unit has two controls: manual and automatic (which means it turns on/off with sunset/sunrise). By now the sticky disc is carpeted with gnats (yahoo!), but if I let it turn off during the day, I begin to see gnats again. My compromise is this: I let it run at night, but if I see a gnat by day, I turn it on manually for a few hours. My only criticism is that it's quite large--hard to place both near me and near the garbage--I mean, I can live with gnats in the garbage until I take it out; its those that pester ME that brought the Katchy to my home. But life is good. The gnat problem is controlled. It remains to be seen how long this device lasts before wearing out. I does have moving parts. BTW, I've never seen a survey question for "Adhesion" before. Guessing it refers to how many bugs get stuck permanently on the disk (which implies past problems with escapees?), I gave it a 3 because I honestly don't know how many if any fly back out of it. As of now the sticky disc is covered with dead gnats and other bugs, and it's about due for a replacement. So far, it's great!

**Q: fan seems to be disconnected.  should this be one solid piece or is it broken?**

**Q: Where do I find replacement glue pads?**
A: I used one of the replacement glue pads as a template on basic yellow sticky traps. Two discs can be cut from one sheet, and has the advantage of being double sided. Seemed to work just as well. MUCH less expensive and more readily available than the Katchy glue boards.

Please understand that my problem was with fungus gnats. If you problem is with some other type of insect, your milage may vary.

**Q: How does this product work with no seeums?**
A: Works awesome for no seeums believe me you won’t regret buying one. I love mine. As a matter of fact I haven’t had one of them fly by my ear since my purchase. Had it about a year and a half.

### ⭐ No Katchy Katchy I caught 1 fuite fly in 10 days, all but 1 of them are still annoying me

No Katchy Katchy, no worky. I have fruit fly's around the Kitchen sink and a plant across the room. I set it up near the sink for a week, right where they all like to fly around and annoy me, and it caught 1 fruit fly, I think it was by luck alone. Then I set it near the plant for a few days and it caught zero. I tried it in auto mode at night only, and I let it run 24/7 I don't think the blue light is attracting them, they don't seem to want to go near the thing, even though they can sit on fruit or a plant right next to it. I was hoping it would work but I guess its back to the drawy board to find something else that Katchee's fruit flys.
