It is heavy going at times. There is not a single note of frivolity or sentimentality. I have since re-read it twenty years later and find it profoundly interesting. The mode of delivery of the information (and the ringing endorsements of every New Age superstar, ever) may lead one to expect a discussion with the fairies in the garden (not that there is anything wrong with that). Instead, one finds a document which is rigorous, thorough, stylish and not without arch humour. The breadth of the view it undertakes to address is remarkable. And despite the odd mode of delivery, I now find it very readable. I have now read Susan Watkins' two-volume memoir of Jane and Robert Butt's 'classes' which reveal more of the playfulness, delight and boldness which surrounded the Seth sessions. These and the more personal books (e.g. The Early Sessions and The Way Toward Health -- about learning to channel and Robert's terminal illness and death) -- appeal to me more because I appreciate the emotional complexity of them. As a treatise/introduction to a new and very influential type of wisdom, though, this one is hard to beat. At that time, I really could not understand it and did not retain much of it. This time around, I am so fascinated with it that I daydream about the information when I am not reading. It is only recently that my husband became open minded enough to even listen. One day recently, I read a couple of sentences to him and he, too, was mesmerized. Now, I am reading the entire book to him. We read a little then talk about it. As he put it yesterday evening, it all seems so true and it explains everything without being the least bit new-agey sappy. It is probably only for those who have had a NDE or OBE because, once you can see beyond the physical/corporeal world, you can see that 'Seth Speaks' is just plain talk about reality.
