He likes it and uses his frequently but, my observation is regardless of the country the product is NOT a precision gyro by any means. It's fine for a kid to play with, but for the price it should be much better made. The gyro squealed until I lightly greased the pins on the ends (no bearings) and the bases are light weight (hollow plastic) with rough casting edges on the metal frames. The fit was sloppy all the way around so from my perspective I HOPE it's from somewhere like China. I would recommend you look elsewhere if you want a really good gyroscope but finding one, even for this price, will not be easy. The rotor in all of them was badly out of balance causing the gyroscope to vibrate badly when spun up. The vibration used up the rotational energy so that the worst of the units coasted to a stop in 18 seconds while the best stopped in 52 seconds (the product description quoted times of 9 minutes to coast-down stop) The out-of-balance condition was so bad in all three units that it was plainly visible when you slowly spun the rotor with your fingertips. Other than the balance problem, the units were very nicely made and finished. Amazon was excellent in dealing with the problem and very promptly supplied replacements and finally giving me a refund.
