Right out of the package, it had an odd, plastic-y odor that wasn’t terribly off putting and seemed to have disappeared after the first two uses. (It’s not a bad smell; I find it tolerable). For the price, I can’t complain and am tempted to get one for the downstairs shower. It went in easy, it hasn’t budged unless lifted up. I really like this mat.
