I ran it in short sections, peeling off the backing paper as I went, and smoothing it out with a credit card. The adhesive is VERY tough, and not at all forgiving, which was the most trying part of the install, and why I docked it a star. If you make a mistake, paint IS coming off the wall. Changes in direction near corners are particularly difficult because you need to get the angle exactly right, and the adhesive is fighting you the entire time. But once it was up and painted over, it practically disappeared. It is decidedly less visible at eye level and above, and more visible down low. The corners are the only part where it needed extra attention with paint. In all, I'm very happy with the product. It did what it was supposed to, and barring the installation headaches with corners and turns, wasn't bad at all. For a straight run, it would've been no problem at all. Once the paint was up, the only thing left visible was the terminal block. We replaced our carpet and installed vinyl flooring so I wanted to hide all my speaker wires. Just to be on the safe side I sanded all the areas where the wire would stick to, but probably not necessary. Then I taped it all down with sticky masking tape so it would not more during the flooring install - again, probably not necessary. After flooring was in I installed the terminal blocks on top of the baseboard. They were challenging because the adhesive is sooooo sticky but I got it done.
