### ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A lesser known, but EXCELLENT Harrison Ford film

*by M***J on Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2016*

Actually one of my favorite Harrison Ford movies, though it's not very well known. Ford plays a believably non-kick ass character that is sucked into a frightening scenario where he has to save his family. He's a tech guy who has to fight, and he does it very believably. He doesn't turn into an amazing fighter, but he does what he has to do to save his family. The suspense is very high--you'll be on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The characters are very realistic and the acting is great. There's a little bit of humor added in, not much, but you'll smile time to time. One of my favorite all time movies, highly recommend. Also, the blu-ray quality is great.

Admirable technical accuracy; ingenious plot; brilliant execution.

As a computer network security engineer, I found Firewall one of the few films to depict network technologists as the competent, courageous, thoughtful, ingenious, and great-looking people they are in real life. Harrison Ford is a highly plausible network security specialist, and his work scenario is a realistic one: the security guru for a major corporation that suffers to see his well protected security infrastructure dismantled by a disinterested bean counter after the organization is bought by a larger company. As bank IT expert Jack Stanfield, Ford faces all the challenges any network professional does day in and day out -- hacker attacks, equipment breakdowns, office politics, mergers and acquisitions, home invaders, and armed assault. Well, maybe not the last two.The producer of Firewall strove for extreme technical accuracy. Unlike virtually every other movie depicting computers, the screens in Firewall don't beep with every character displayed, don't respond to silly commands like "solve problem," and don't have thousands of blinking lights. Every computer interaction is realistic, and screen close-ups actually make sense. In one early scene, Ford types an access control list into a Cisco PIX firewall, and what he types is legitimate Cisco code that would accomplish what his character says it would. Frankly, I've *never* seen that in any movie before. There are some vigorous action sequences in the movie that portray a tad more physical activity than most of us experience during the workday. But that is the only flaw in this otherwise perfect rendering of the modern network guru. And for those skeptical about Ford's re-purposing of an iPod and fax machine into a screen scanner with attached storage, I ask "What? You haven't done that?"

    Typical but Do-able

*by P***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2014*

Well, if you like tense, action films where the hero's family are the targets and the hero is a regular guy who turns into Macho Man to rescue said family, here is yet another example of the genre and a decent one at that. Not to be confused with film classics it will keep you focused if you like this sort of business. Plus, there is the bonus of the return of Chloe O'Brian (well, she's not called Chloe, but she plays a Chloe-esque part as "Jack's" assistant. . .yes, Harrison Ford is also a "Jack.") This time around Mary Lynn is neither the overwhelmed Chloe of her first days at CTU nor the Master Spy True Believer in Almighty Jack of later years, but close enough to all three to add a 24 flavor to this entertaining flick. Enjoy but do bring the popcorn.
