Excellent introduction to Japanese photography.
Brilliantly written book giving a great overview of all styles of Japanese photography. After buying Tatsuo Suzuki's Friction photobook I wanted to learn more about the various styles of Japanese photography from the beginnings to the modern day, this book explains it all and includes interviews with some of the photographer's. Great book with a choice selection of classic photography. Highly recommended as a great introduction to this wide genre of photography. Would have loved it to be in a hardback edition.

Simply fantastic - a must have for any fan of Japanese photography
The photographs included are absolutely beautiful. There's an in-depth understanding of both Japanese culture and art in a way that other books don't offer. Also found the interviews with artists were particularly interesting to read and the book was written in an accessible way.
