(I learned that the original collagen came from hooves and hides) and I assume the bone collagen would be more beneficial. Like the original it is tasteless and odorless and dissolves completely in my morning coffee. I use it as a preventative and at age 86 I have very healthy, pain-free joints. Who doesn't want optimum bone health? However I noticed a discrepancy between what the seller has advertised above and what Great Lakes actually has on this product's label, so I contacted Great Lakes directly for answers. Here is what they told me:All of Great Lakes collagen and gelatin products are type 1 collagen.This bone collagen product will contain trace amounts of minerals present in bone, BUT NOT IN AMOUNTS CONSISTENT OR EVEN SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO LIST ON THE LABEL.Hopefully the seller here on Amazon will correct their listing to reflect this.In the meantime this review will have to suffice to alert potential buyers of this fact.UPDATE: I am pleased to see that this listing has been corrected!
