I've used pretty much all makes over the years and despite may claiming to feel 'realisitic' they are all rubber glued to wood. I got these to help teaching in a primary school, they look great and play great at about half the price of some brands. Good thick rubber surface, producing good bounce. Reasonably quiet. It's heavy, but that's good as you don't want it moving as you play. However, if you want to carry it everywhere, perhaps choose a lighter/smaller version.The bottom surface does dent, so I just use it as a non slip surface. I prefer the grey rubber surface anyway. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Hits almost the right spot. *by M***F on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 October 2018* The media could not be loaded.  This is a fantastic sized 12” practise pad which I was very excited to try out. I haven’t heard of RockJam before so I’m curious to find out more about their products.The first thing I noticed was how heavy the pad is - it’s not really one you’d want to stick in your backpack for practise on the train/ on the move... it’s well built and the large size makes it perfect for using with a snare stand - note that there is no screw thread on the other side for stand mounting that way.The pad claims to be double sided. One side is a very thick, hard and durable grey rubber and the other is a thin black foam which I have on other practise pads but it’s purely a grippy base.
