I used this book and passed one time. I also bought the CCM practice exams which was very helpful. This book by Fattorusso has lots of practice question with rationals given for the correct answer choice. As you go thru the questions at the end of each chapter the answers are reinforced as you move on to the next question. I also bought the Case Management Nurse Exam Secret Study guide: Test prep and did not use it at all. I would suggest when preparing for the CCM exam to use just Fattorusso and the CCM practice exams. I bought the test that allows you to use it 10 times. I have no affiliation with Denise Fattorusso. I used a variety of different resources to study for the exam and I did pass but I think I would have been fine if I had only used this book. The test that comes with it isn't a CD but is a link to a website you can take practice tests on. You can take the tests 2 ways. You can answer the questions one at a time and immediately find out what the correct answer is and why it is the correct answer or you can answer all the questions on that test, get your score and go back and review the questions you want. I also did all the questions in the book.The CCM test questions are ABC&D. Test question in this book have answers that are A&B, A&C, all of the above and none of the above... more like for the ACM - hospital based case management. But I found this book the most helpful to pass the exam.--I also read CCM certification made easy, which in my opinion was worthless. Here is why, the book was too simple. It did not go in depth at all. It would cover really basic questions, mostly vocabulary for the test, but won't help you with the trickier questions.I also paid $175 to take the old CCM retired questions test, and passed their practice test. It seemed they used to test on a lot of vocab questions. NOT the case any more so that is why the CCM Certification Made easy is now obsolete. Nothing against that author, but I needed a book to pass.--I also had CCM practice questions by Mometrix - that book is only two tests, but they are actually very similar to the test now.-- I also paid like $40 and did some online practice tests with exam edge- I did this after I had read the books, and for the most part was passing. It helped me get in the computer testing mindset.-- I also had the Case Managers Handbook- it's like a million pages long in supper tiny witting.-- BTW- Two coworkers took the CCM 2 day lecture,and thought that was a waste of time and money ( a little over $300)So far 9 RN's including my self, have taken this exam since the new testing. All have passed on the first try. We all agree on the following:Case Managers Handbook - you will pass and think the test was easy- off course it is an incredibly long long book with tiny writing.A Case Managers Study Guide- you will pass but see some questions in the test you had no idea about no matter what. This test covers a lot of material.CCM made easy- you may or may not pass. It was not detailed enough for the test. And you're just taking a chance.I would recommend this book, CCM practice Questions by Mometrix, and Exam Edge online questions.If you don't have crazy time - I studied for 3 months- I have little children- so I could only study in 30 min. increments- 3-4 times a week. I would just read this book, take notes and go over the test questions at the end of each chapter to help reinforce what you read.
