Briefly, I had a very sentimental and irreplaceable physical rechargeable gift card that I use on a nearly daily basis. After 12 years, it was hacked and funds drained. The company was very quick to refund the lost funds and I was made whole financially but they had to cancel the card because it had been compromised. Sadly, the card I used often that brought me so many memories would become a static collectible. But, I was unwilling to accept that. Using this device made it very easy for me to capture the code from a new gift card and write it to my old card. Essentially spoofing the old card to carry the new card identity. It took only a few steps and returned my old card, under its new identity, into service. And should it get hacked again, I can repeat the process.
