Review: Best activity tracker in its price range - I bought this product on desertcart at a very good price on lighting deal. Product quality is excellent and activity tracking is very accurate. I did a lot of research on Net comparing this product with competitors like Fitbit. Almost all professional reviews rated this product very highly against competitor products in similar price band. Garmin is a long time leader in GPS technology. Also Garmin offers activity trackers across all price points. It competes with Fitbits etc. on the lower end of consumer products, to offering very high end Fenix variants at upper end of prosumer products where it has no competition. All this analysis sealed my deal in favour Vivosmart HR+. I am a moderate exerciser and sync my daily data with the Garmin Connect app on my device. Overall very happy with the product. Note: I have not yet had the chance to test the GPS thoroughly, as I am still in the process of progressing from brisk walking to proper running.
Review: One of my personal favorite capabilities of the watch is that it buzzes you ... - I've been looking for an activity watch for a little over two years now and I've finally found one that has the capabilities I need! My first activity watch was a Misfit Flash which had a lower price-point but did not have a very interactive watch face. You could click it to see the time in a very artsy fashion (you can go to its listing to figure out what exactly happened, but I won't go into detail here) and it just became an overall hassle as far as worrying that I might lose it and seeing the time. My second activity watch was a Garmin Vivofit which had a watch face that you could see the screen, but there was no real interactive capabilities. Both of these watches got the job done and had a long battery lifespan from a couple months to half a year. I opted for Vivosmart because of the heartrate (HR) capability as well as being able to use my watch as a notification tool. It was a hassle having to bring out my phone all the time and I can manually log in activities (pressing the start/stop button for runs, which is my main workout) without having to rely on Garmin automatically picking up activities. The app is standard: it keeps track of how many steps you take (you need to calibrate how long your steps are to have accurate "total distance"), how many hours you've slept, and has a calendar so you can track your activity levels throughout the time you've had the watch. One of my personal favorite capabilities of the watch is that it buzzes you every hour that you haven't been actively moving. Just taking a short walk will clear the bar and it makes sure that I don't sit on my bum for the entire day at work (especially since my work has me sitting for majority of the time). This capability is in other Garmin devices, but I also like being able to see my activity level throughout the day ON the watch and not having to sync the app to track results. One of my least favorite capabilities of the watch is that it does need to charge every couple of days. Besides at work, I like to keep active and travel, which makes having the time to charge sometimes difficult. I've forgotten my Vivosmart at home a couple of days because I forgot that I had left it charging and left in a hurry. This is probably because I'm used to smart watches that don't need any charging at all (such as the Misfit Flash and Garmin Vivofit) and I am getting better at charging my watch every other day while I'm showering and then putting the watch on before I head to sleep. The watch is also waterproof, in case you're curious. All in all, it's a wonderful watch for the price you pay. Don't be like me and dilly-dally on the lower priced watches and waste money when you can invest in a great watch the first time.
