(the black cover kit is cheaper and i need black, i know the brass and nickel are metal.)** A: the cover is metal and the inserts for the cord to pass through are rubber. **Q: How do you open the cover? We have tried to pry open with a screw driver - plate won't budge.** A: First, before installing the cover, I got the cover opened by forcing it with a screwdriver under the cover by pounding it on a flat surface.
