I use it with a MacBook 12" 2015 and 2016 long with MacBook pro 2015 and macbook air 2019. The MacBooks with USB-C do charge well. In all cases you need the displaying drivers installed. I use 2 screens in 2K resolution (4K works too). The MBA and MB can drive 2 external screens + the laptop display. No mirroring, all independent displays. A bit slow with the old MB though. You need to be careful with the laptop you want to charge to have a powerful enough power brick (they have 2 models) **Q: Does this use the displaylink dl-6000 chipset?** A: Yes, this Dell 452-BCYT D6000 Universal Dock is using the DisplayLink DL-6000 Series chipset. ^RG **Q: If i connect my dell vostro 5568 with a usb 3.0 cable (not a usb type-c which is not on this model) do i need to plug in original power cord as well?** A: I have Dell Latitude 7400. USB-C does power the laptop. If you use USB 3.0 it does not power your laptop in that case you need to use laptop power supply. So use USB-C to power your laptop. **Q: I can't get the hdmi port to work when i have the two display ports plugged in. is there a solution?** A: I was unable to get it to work consistently using 2 display ports, it would keep flickering on me. I ended up returning the product after I read through other posts which had similar issues. Benq Q2480 through Displayport2. Dell E2219HN through HDMI1. Dell laptop (Latitude 3400) : -Laptop having USB C type port and it worked perfectly both USB C type USB 3.0 without installing displaylink software/driver (plug and play)Perfectly Charging Laptop with USB CNo lagging, working fine with full hd resolution, No flickering2. I wanted an universal dock which works with all of the laptops irrespective of the brand. The first dock that I looked at was Dell D3100 Dell USB 3.0 Ultra HD TripleVideo Docking Station D3100, the first release of the dock with lots of issues and complains. D3100 had only 1 display port and 2 HDMI's, from my experience of using displays the Display Port is best suited for text sharpness. I do a lot of software development and wanted 2 display ports and Dell D6100 fits the need. Lot of people had written about not being able to configure this Dock with laptops and having issues. I have set this dock with 4 different laptops and it was quick. I spent less than 10 mins every time, without even reading the manuals or online documents. Just need to know how the docks work and configure them on Windows machine. Please note, the laptops I used was loaded with either Win 7 or Win 10 Professional. Over all I'm very happy with my setup and has increased my efficiency at least by 10%. The only thing I can complain about this product is the price, it's very expensive.
