Anyone have an opinion if the rear vented model would be quieter?** A: Hi Mike. I have my unit not much more than about 5 feet from me. My Denon AVR is set in a closed back unit. My flat is very warm even without any heating on. My flat temp is usually between 22 and 26 generally. I even leave the back door open all the time so that gives you an idea hot warm my flat gets with no heating on in entire flat other than bathroom radiator only so I can have a warm towel after a shower. I have the unit set as follows with the probe temp at 29. On "Auto" with fan at lowest setting. Fan start up is 30 and alarm is set at 36. With these settings I must admit I hardly ever hear the unit working. Occasionally I do but not loud that is is disturbing. Maybe setting yours the same will help. I hope my answer has been helpful. I assume that is the ambient room air, not sure how that translates to equipment measurements while running, but i wouldn’t be surprised if the unit made it over 100 or 110 without a fan. Set your cooling fan to 85. **Q: If i install this product with my av equipment in a media rack inside a closed closet, do i need to exhaust the closet?** A: I would say yes. You need a source of cool air from somewhere. If you use this on your AV equipment in an enclosed space, the closet will heat up and your equipment will probably not be cooled adequately. **Q: How do theze work in av racks? how much space is needed above the cooling fan?** A: The AIRCOM coolers are great for AV racks. The fan inlets on the T10 model are on the bottom and the outlets are on the front. So, no space is needed above the AIRCOM T10 for it to function as designed.
