Review: So easy to thin for beautifully smooth cookies! - I was very pleased with the Wilton Ready-to-Use Royal Icing! I used it on a batch of sugar cookies and wanted a simple, smooth finish rather than doing a lot of detailed piping. I thinned the royal icing with just a little water, dipped the tops of my cookies directly into the icing and then let the excess drip off. It worked beautifully! The icing went on smoothly, took the food coloring well and gave me exactly the soft, pretty finish I was hoping for. This saved me the extra step of making royal icing from scratch, and I really liked being able to adjust the consistency myself depending on what I was doing. After seeing how these cookies turned out, this is something I can definitely see myself using regularly. Now I just wish Wilton sold it in a much bigger container! Edit—- I reordered this received busted was transferred via chat 7 times finally spoke with someone who said issue was resolved and I would get replacement NEVER received!

**Q: With pre made royal icing can you just add food coloring to make color ?**
A: I don't know about regular food coloring but they sell gel coloring just for this product which isn't expensive and would probably not work best

**Q: What would I have students use to make a line on a gingerbread house?**
A: A very small tipped icing tip that would go on a pastry bag (you can get clear ones that you can throw away)

**Q: Can I use this to ice cookies?**
A: Yes, you can.  You could also use it to make decorations on the cookies.

**Q: Why is it $13 here and 6.98 in the store????? why a $7 price difference for one tiny jar??**
A: I question that myself.  It is sooooo small it's not worth the price difference.

I was very pleased with the Wilton Ready-to-Use Royal Icing! I used it on a batch of sugar cookies and wanted a simple, smooth finish rather than doing a lot of detailed piping. I thinned the royal icing with just a little water, dipped the tops of my cookies directly into the icing and then let the excess drip off. It worked beautifully! The icing went on smoothly, took the food coloring well and gave me exactly the soft, pretty finish I was hoping for. This saved me the extra step of making royal icing from scratch, and I really liked being able to adjust the consistency myself depending on what I was doing. After seeing how these cookies turned out, this is something I can definitely see myself using regularly. Now I just wish Wilton sold it in a much bigger container! Edit—- I reordered this received busted was transferred via chat 7 times finally spoke with someone who said issue was resolved and I would get replacement NEVER received!

Do not order these from Amazon. The product is great. Unfortunately, the packing is haphazardly done and the plastic container cracks every time. Very frustrating.
