Review: Looks great and is makes good coffee. - I bought this coffee percolator in case of emergencies. Having no coffee is not a good thing if electric power goes out, and we have to go cowboy style. It’s such a nice sturdy pot, that I am using it quite a bit for our morning coffee, because it makes good coffee! Additionally it looks great on the stove. No it’s not a quick cup, but I like the percolator taste. It took a few try’s to get the measurements, proper grind, and timing, for my tastes. But works great for a good cup of Joe. I like the large size as there is enough to take a go cup on the way out the door, or boil up some water for other purposes when needed. It’ easy to clean, love the stainless instead of aluminum or enameled. It’s made well and I see no signs of discoloration so far. Yes, I would recommend this coffee pot.

**Q: How do you KNOW coffee is ready?
All directions I find are completely VAGUE.**
A: I gave up on having an automatic coffee maker and started using this one. It makes better coffee/ it draws more of the oils out from the grounds. I learned how to use it from YouTube videos, and after 2 years of making coffee with this very 12 cup Percolator I'll go ahead and share my technique (since someone else's public post is how I learned). First I use regular coffee filters, and just poke a hole in the middle. It helps to wet the holder so the paper sticks to the sides to keep out of the way while you add coffee grounds to your strainer jig (I add 5 heaping dinner spoons). Some grounds get through but after my coffee is done I pour it through a fine strainer anyway to get those out. Start by putting the stove on high. Once you have an angry boil, change the heat down to medium (5 is medium on my scale of 10 for stove settings). This is the heat you'll keep it on while it percolates. Take the lid off the pot and set your loaded strainer jig inside (I forget the technical name for it). Then replace the lid and the percolation process begins/ you'll see water pop up into the glass thing on top, and inside it's dripping down over the coffee grounds to make the coffee. Set your timer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn off the heat but dont lift the lid on the pot, and dont take it off the burner/ just leave it. When everything is cooled enough to lift the lid without hot water spurting out at you, it's ready to drink. Enjoy!

**Q: I just read on this site that it is made in China, That's all I need to know. I refuse to buy chinese.**
A: I agree we should buy American but it's the business class sold us out, can we blame the Chinese want jobs? Don't forget some items made in China are cheap because probably only 90 cents thrown at them for a product to be sold here for $10. If you don't want Chinese, there is a Japanese brand Snow Peak sells same item made in Japan here in Amazon for $370. You only pay ten times more, but are you going to get ten times the quality? I don't think so.

**Q: Is the basket stainless also, or aluminum?**
A: The basket is of a dubious metal that outlasted the pot. The pot interior had so much corrosion and pitting after 2 years that it was frightening. The quality of stainless is very very low. Note they do not mention 18-8 or 18-3 stainless. The outside still looks pristine like it has lots of chromium in it. The glass top broke and was replaced. The basket was the only part not ruined in normal use. I question the safety of this pot, now used as a bird feeder.

**Q: why does it take 1-2 months to receive it????this is rediculous in todays world..**
A: I received mine in about two weeks, so I don't know why it would take longer, unless it is out of stock or it is being shipped out of the country.
