Prime also detoxifies any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. When used during cycling, prime enhances nitrate removal and does not cause a ph drop or over activate protein skimmers. Great for setting up new aquariums or when adding or changing water or to remove nitrate. Use 1 ml for each 10 gallons of water. So a 35% change on 55 gal. tank, takes 1/4 cap? Sounds too good to be true.** A: Per Seachem's instructions, if you are doing a partial water change of 35%, if you are adding water directly from the tap (such as with a water changer such as a Python or Aqueon) you add enough Prime for the volume of the whole tank. On the other hand, if you're removing 35% and then adding the water using a bucket, you can dechlorinate the amount of each bucket. For example, if you're using a 3 gallon bucket, 6 drops Prime per bucket, and then add that to the tank. The Prime works almost immediately, so just add the drops to the bucket, and then it is ready to pour into your tank. **Q: How long does it take to work when setting up a new tank? Thanks!!** A: this removes the chlorine, etc. almost immediately, I add it to the aquarium when doing water changes, ands just pour the water into the tank. remember this just removes the harmful chemicals, your tank will still have to cycle through the nitrogen cycle if you are setting up a new tank. **Q: I end up with alot of foam at the top of my aquariums when I add prime,Have I added too much to my tap water changes,My Tap water is high in iron** A: The small bottle of prime has a flip cap which allows you to add drops. If you have the large bottle of Prime use an eye dropper. When doing a water change, fill a clean, never seen soap or chemicals bucket of fresh water and add Prime to this fresh water, not directly into your tank - 2 drops per gallon. I also do not get foam. I do a 50 - 60 percent water change weekly along with a gravel vac. If you are stll getting foam after a gravel vac and water change I would suggest you give Seachem a call. They have great customer service. When cleaning your tank, give your filter sponge, floss a swish around in used tank water also to remove some of the gunk and put right back in. Do not rinse in untreated fresh water, by doing so you can lose your cycle. **Q: I'm looking to remove chlorine from my pool, will this work?** A: It will work but there may be less expensive options from a pool dealer.
