My doc says i dont need them yet so trying to find one were they are optional** A: The metal inserts can not be removed. In my opinion the metal inserts are more cosmetic and provide very little rigid support. The product is designed as a compression bandage with flexable adjustable straps. There are many others to choose from on the internet. **Q: Does it have a strap that goes directly behind the knee or is your knee free to bend? Straps in back of my knee dig into my skin after wearing them.** A: It is very thick neoprene and it actually has two straps, one below the patella and one above. The straps go right around the leg and do not cross as is common with a lot of other knee braces. I don’t find the straps uncomfortable at all on this brace. **Q: My wife has a weak knee that goes out on her,she needs a brace that will keep her knee from bending, will this work?** A: My knee goes out, too. This brace bends comfortably, but does support my knee and keeps it from roaming around. I used the elliptical far too much and this caused knock knees. Its been getting better since I started using the treadmill. The doctor recommended a knee brace but I cant afford that so I got this. It works extremely well. First of all, this product is a tight fit and a bit of a hassle to get on and off but thats any knee brace. I was told to use it as much as possible as I stand a lot and it definitely is helping me stand properly. This brace pushes your knees a bit forward so that you can maintain a proper standing position more easily. I have been using this so far most of the day and I can honestly say after standing for 4+ hours that this product has reduced stress on my hips, abs, and legs dramatically. It has helped tremendously and is a good replacement for a 300$ knee brace. I also use a back brace with this as well. I think this product is useless for skinny people who dont stand too much and have no knee issues. But if you are heavy, stand a lot, have knee issues of any kind, or have back issues, this product is likely to be of tremendous help and can be easily worn at work with no issues.
