Is the Volume knob responsive between 0 and 1 on the low power setting? Baby sleeping next door** A: Yes. It is clean, and responsive between 0 and 1. I am currently living in an apartment so I have to keep my volume low . **Q: Do these sound better than Vox amps?** A: As per the previous answer, the Vox will be a brighter, chimey sound. The Origin 20 has the standard Marshall tone but is not quite as heavy as a Plexi. Ready to rock! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tone really settles in after about 100 hours on the tubes *by K***N on February 28, 2025* After about 100 hours on the tube the tone finally warms up and gets less piercing and shrill. Sweet spot on all the knobs has been 4-6 or 10 o clock to 2 o clock ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Tone & Lugable *by M***S on October 31, 2020* I purchased this amplifier for both its great tone, and the fact that it doesn't weight a ton. At 68 years of age, I'm frankly not able to lug around most of the amps I've accumulated in my 54 years as a guitar player. The Origin 20 is at the upper limit of my weight requirement. I looked at the Origin 50 as well, but in doing research I found that the only differences are a larger Audio Output Transformer, and a 12-inch Speaker on the Origin 50. Hence, more power output. I suspect that the Origin 50 may run the Plate/Screen Voltage on the Output Tubes at a higher level. When schematics become readily available we will know for sure.I've been running an array of guitars through the Origin 20 and so far it sounds best to me using an ES-335 clone with upgraded pickups(Grote 335 w/Dimebag Bridge and Vintage Epi Humbucker Neck), and a LP Standard. For Single Coils it's great with the P-90s in my Casino and LP Junior.I miss having Reverb, the only effect I've ever used. Initially, I tried my Behringer V-Verb Pro in the Effects Loop. Although it's a good quality rack mount reverb, it was noisy in this application. I then opted for an old Toneworks AX1G Multi Effects Pedal that I haven't used for years. After some adjustments, it sounds good. Ideally I'd like to have a outboard Tube Spring Reverb, but they're as much as the amp! Later I'll try to buy a quality Reverb Pedal based on an Accutronics Reverb Chip (or build one from a kit).Since I heard "John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton" many years ago, I've been searching for that tone. I couldn't afford a 1962 Marshall Combo, so it took some looking. Prior to the Origin 20, the closest I've come was with a vintage Dean Markley Signature Series 60 Amp Head (used by Clapton) to 2 each 12" Celestion G12M Speakers. Now I've finally got the tone in a package I can carry!
