As it's a Mini version, the Zappiti is about 1/3rd of the size of the Max in all three dimensions - you can hang it on the back of your TV if you want. I don't miss the internal hard drive as I can use DLNA (PnP) and SMB from a NAS drive or plug in an external USB drive. I might miss the builtin DVD/BD player except that I intend ripping all my region 1/A discs to NAS. Playback of ripped 3D ISOs works well but 3D MKVs appear to be problematic for reasons I have yet to fathom. I haven't tried 4K UHD yet as I don't own many such discs (my 55" TV isn't really big enough to take advantage of the high resolution!) and haven't yet ripped them. Otherwise, playback over 500 Mb/s powerline Ethernet is smooth and the picture meets all my expectations. As this box has an Android-based OS, I could install many other apps such as Netflix but my LG smart TV serves perfectly well for my streaming needs. Nice to have the facility though. I haven't yet had chance to populate the Zappiti movie and TV show graphical wall browser but it will require reorganising my NAS directory structure and renaming many of the video files and correcting any missing or misassigned entries. I'm happy enough using the file browser for now. One minor negative point - the included HDMI 2.0 cable didn't work at all (as happened for another reviewer). Fortuitously, I had a spare high spec cable that did work. Review: A Great Little Device - Having used this player for more than a month, I can confidently say that I have 0 regrets about the money I put down for this little beast. It is a marvelous, seamless player of both hi-res audio and video files, with support for all the new formats (there's nothing this device won't play). For films with some of the new audio codecs, it downmixes 7.1 channels to 5.1 and you can also force SD audio in case your setup can't handle it. For those who prefer to browse and control their collection of music, tv or films using their smartphones - Zappiti has you covered there as well. The app isn't fantastic, but it gets the job done. There's now a dedicated app for music too, so it's reassuring to see the dev team paying attention to our needs and adding value at every step. I recommend this to any AV aficionado with a sense of good taste and the desire to properly organise their media collection. And it looks good too. The feature I most like is the Zappiti Cloud, that scrapes all your movies/tv shows downloads fan art, jacket covers and other textual media info. The best bit is that you don't need to have a PC to do this, as it's carried out by the player automatically (you can also make adjustments, by using the remote control - or attach a Bluetooth keyboard to it as I did, to make text inputting quicker). The Cloud feature also synchronises your media library with other Zappiti players, or Zappiti Media Centre applications (that you can install on a PC or Mac), so you can make changes on any device, or on the player itself and these get updated across all devices - really brilliant! I must've owned every media player on the market, but non have ever done such a complete job as this one. My movie collection is stored on a NAS drive (wired ethernet connection) and accessed flawlessly, with no stuttering or long delays before playback.
