**Q: How big are the squares? wonder if eggcups could be used instead of counters for children (health & safety). thank you.**
A: This was a gift . I personally haven't seen it but I had something similar for my own children when small and those squares were big.
They loved the game by the way.

A: hello, i would say yes, but maybe the edges would be a bit off, since its not the same shape. 
but this is about 80cm x 80cm.

A basic but good snakes and ladders game. Plastic, foldable mat, good size for kids to play but unfortunately dice is too small so you would probably need to use your own dice or buy another one. Very handy to pack for traveling.

I bought a few of these to make families games night boxes. The packaging was nice and you could see the product. The product was really nice. A lovely big board and big counters.The family I sent it to absolutely love it.
