**Q: how loud is the alarm and how long is the cord?**
A: I no longer have the device since my mom passed away so I do not know the exact length of the cord.  I could hear the alarm going off when my mother's bedroom door was closed and mine was as well.  Our rooms had one room between us.  I ended up using a baby monitor to amplify the sound for when I was asleep.  I hope this was helpful.

**Q: Will this work on a couch cushion?**
A: It will work anywhere.  Got it for my Aunt who was in a care facility and getting up and falling.  Best wishes
