This one has the wheel to wind it out to where he needs it and it stays in place for him to use it without worrying about it sliding in or out. This one comes with extra lead and even a couple of extra screws and wheels, and it seems to be pretty sturdy. Save for the lead (and the bottles the refills come in) the entire thing is made of metal and has a bit of heft to it. Sturdy enough for all kinds of projects!I did take one point off of ‘easy to use’ because adjusting the compass is a bit awkward due to the placement. But it doesn’t lose any more than that because while it is difficult to adjust while in use, you definitely aren’t going to bump anything off course or accidentally move the arm a few degrees.As a side note, shipping was very prompt and the product came in a little, clear, resealable pouch that I’ve chosen to keep for storage. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value for the money - could use a lock to maintain the length of circle *by R***E on November 12, 2021* I actually researched these things before I purchased this one. It is of good quality manufacture. I appreciate the extra leads and points.Others said that this would benefit from some mechanism to lock the compass from changing. I didn't think that would be a problem, but it is. As I move from one piece to another to draw another , it is too easy for the easy moving mechanism to move. Even when I am drawing a circle, I have to be careful not to touch the turning mechanism and change it. I find myself setting the circle to be drawn, then sticking a piece of masking tape over the turning mechanism to assure it will not turn between pieces or even on the same circle.Still, a really nice piece for the money.
