I love this and use it now almost daily to seal up cereal and crackers in my ball wide mouth jars. ONLY THE WIDE MOUTH WORKS WELL, The narrow/regular mouth WORKS but ONLY if you put two lids on prior to sealing the jar. It locks both lids down tight - thus you need double the lids if you are sealing the narrow/regular mouth jars. I use the wide mouth jar sealer constantly. Has saved us boatloads of money on groceries that no longer go bad. I even use the pint sized wide mouth jars to store leftover chicken broth, tomato sauce, etc. Just fill the jars to an inch below the rim and freeze for a few hours before sucking out the air. No ice crystals. No freezer burn. Fabulous.

Much quicker than oven sealing and far better than screw lids.

They work perfectly. We did find that the small mouth jar lids may need to be preheated in the oven to soften the gasket. It could be that the lids we got could have been old. But, other that that one little difficulty, both sizes work like a charm. Several of us use them for sealing the jars we use to store dehydrated food, for long-term storage. We found that it take more effort to open a vacuum sealed jar than a pressure canned jar.

I purchased this to seal bread crumbs and seasoning mixes in jars. I had read ahead and seen that many people use a second lid inside the device (upside down usually) to make sure it seals well. I haven't had one lid fail yet. The cool thing is you can reuse lids that you have previously used for canning or sealing, so that's an added bonus.
