It is backlit and has good controls. It keeps a good long charge with a standard usb-C charger. The trackpad is smooth and works well. The swivel and tilt features work well. There is a central hinge where the screen turns and folds. Initially I was worried about this as I thought it might break easily. However, it is surprisingly stable and tight. That said, because of the swivel features and the turning capability on a single point in the center, the iPad does jiggle when touched or with heavy typing. I’ve gotten used to this and it doesn’t bother me as most laptops have some jiggle. The iPad stays tight in the case itself and actually folds and functions much like my co-workers’ folding laptops. It is plastic, but is holding up very well. I use it frequently for multiple hours at a time, but haven’t dropped it and do carry it back and forth to work in a bag.
