A very sturdy, comfortable, and nicely finished big and tall desk chair definitely worth considering.
I thought I had already reviewed this chair, but when I came back to update it, I discovered that I was wrong. I am NOT a small person - I'm over 6' tall and weigh a lot more than I should (used to be a competitive weight lifter and never stopped eating ... sigh). So at 290lbs I give this chair a good workout. I've been using it for over 18 months now, and it is holding up beautifully. Yes you can tell that someone sits in it regularly - but then my work day (home office) is typically 07:00-19:00 or later, so that's reasonable. The cushions and frame are in essentially almost new condition, and it has given me no problems. Also it is comfortable enough that I don't find myself looking for other chairs on line ... PRO's: The height is very adjustable and it's on the tall side. My desk has a top at about 34" and the chair matches it whether I want to set up tall OR let the chair down to slide it up under the desk on those rare occasions when I'm awake and not sitting in it. The gas cylinder is still working perfectly (I've had them go out at any age from 9-months up, so I'm pleased that it doesn't yet seem to slip at all). The adjustments (height, tilt, lumbar support) are all easy to adjust and stay adjusted once set. My wife actually likes the way it looks (when you have a shared home office, that can be an issue if your "partner" does NOT like it). The casters (wheels) are very good quality and don't give me problems rolling across the computer room floor which as hardwood, floor protectors, and an oriental carpet with which to contend. (It doesn't like the 1/2" inch jump to get up onto the carpet, but I added a home-made ramp (a short wedge) which lets it get up onto the carpet if I back up far enough to go onto the capet. The finish is holding up nicely. CONs: There aren't many to be honest and they're mostly nit-picking. The lowest height adjustment may be too high for shorter desks (not a problem to me, but it might be for you). (This one is just nit picking ...) At this cost, I would like to have three "features" it doesn't have (but which I think it should). There is no "seat" front-to-back adjustability. Other big&tall chairs have that feature and I loved it on my previous chair. AND ... The angle of the seat relative to the back is not adjustable. Again other big&tall chairs have that feature and I loved it on my previous chair. OTOH that is my "previous" chair because the mechanism which connects the back to the seat failed. That might be connected to why such features are not available on this chair. The third "missing" feature is the tilt of the back of the chair. When I'm on a really pointless, never-ending a la Dilbert than the PHB meeting, I used to recline my old chair's back and relax for the duration of the pointless jabber. This chair doesn't tilt that far back and I miss the capability. As I said above, this item is just nit-picking and probably won't apply to you. I would definitely recommend this chair to anyone over 6' tall and/or over 250 lbs. My brother (6'5") finds it quite comforable and he's right at its weight limit - and the chair doesn't seem to mind (complain/fail/run screaming form the room) when he sits in it. FWIW I'd also buy it again. As I said, definitely recommended T

Great chair for 6'3"+
I bought because of the name brand, in hopes the quality would be better than other offerings. The chair is as described made of bonded leather. If you've ever owned a bonded leather belt vs a real solid leather belt, you know that eventually the veneer cracks usually near the most used prong hole first. But a real solid leather chair would have been much, much more expensive and this has a nice touch and feel. My real leather office chair has lasted 25 years, but the cylinder finally gave out. I didn't realize it at the time I ordered, but I can probably just replace the cylinder and keep using the old one, but nevertheless I'm very satisfied with the purchase. The leather is single stitched, in a lighter threat to show some contrast. I do appreciate the padded armrests, which is a comfortable touch - although I am near certain those will be the first to tear up, from hitting the underside of desks, and from elbow rubs, much like how a bonded leather belt I expect it to crack first, and then delaminate. But given the price, its satisfactory for now -- a good feature is it appears the armrests can be removed with three screws from the bottom. So if that happens, I can replace the pads with something simple, or have them recovered by an upholsterer, or just repair the leather from the backside, to stop it from cracking, so its held together. Now for the best part -- the controls on this chair are really nice. There are three adjustments 1. up/down 2. lock tilt at any position; my favorite feature.. this locks the tilt to the amount the chair leans back stay set 3. tilt tension adjustment; this dial/knob is used in setting force to lean back when the tilt is not locked. I may be using the wrong chair industry terminology, buts that's how I'd best use layman's terms to describe it. The arms seem to be a dense composite wood, with a heavy and hard coating, so that is going to more durable than even a hardwood, and will prevent chips and dings. The spokes out to each caster wheel have a metal core, and the look of the wood over the metal is very nice. The only small thing about this chair, is because it is bonded leather, and it is so well cushioned and VERY comfortable, the combination of those two choices make the chair much warmer sitting than my real leather chair that has a similiar shape and style. That is just the trade off you get with the cost and features -- but I strongly recommend this chair. I've looked around and sat in these types of chairs for years at big box stores but never liked them enough to felt the need to replace my old one, but I'm glad I took a leap of faith and ordered this serta one sight unseen. It won't be dropped off at Kohl's for return.

Comfortable, but loud and not durable. Didn't last 4 months.
I've had this chair for about 4 months now, and I am just disappointed. When I received the chair, the packaging was open as if it had been dropped and the tape failed, but luckily all of the parts were still inside. The chair was less than intuitive to assemble. The included instructions aren't great, but thankfully I got it together. I didn't bother with the stock wheels because I only have carpet and those wheels simply don't work. I replaced them with some rollerblade-style wheels. The chair did sit taller than I would've liked at first, but as I used it, it sank in. The range of height adjustment isn't great, so if you're short you're probably not going to like this chair. The chair has been loud since the day I got it as well. Every time I leaned on it it would creak, and it got incredibly annoying after 1 week. I am a big guy, but this chair should not have trouble holding me up. Now, on to my biggest issue. After 4 months of regular use, the mechanism which holds the chair upright (the lean-back feature) has failed. I am no longer able to lean back in the chair without it fully adjusting backwards. This is unacceptable at this price point. I expected this chair to last me years based on the build quality I initially thought was good when I received it. Unless you're well under the weight limit and willing to spend $300 on a subpar chair that will break, do not buy this. I should've spent a bit more on something that would actually last.

When the product arrived I was a bit disappointed, the box was beaten and battered, ripped and shredded and covered with tape to hold it together. However all the pieces were accounted for and assembly went easily and swiftly. The chair itself is very comfortable for a guy my size, 6'4" and 350 lbs. So far I'm a very satisfied customer. Time will tell for how long. Update July 2020: It's still comfortable. It has sunken(settled) a bit but I compensated with a folded towel.

This is the most comfortable chair I ever owned. Beautiful leather well patted so soft and an amazing price for the chair. I received it very fast so easy to put together also. Everything has a picture that show where every pieces goes, which I put together in less than 1/2 hour. Thank you Serta you have outdone yourself with this chair.

I am trying to be absolutely honest with this review as I have tried to find a good quality chair for my office and I didn't want to pay over $750 a chair. Therefore, when I saw this chair and the reviews, I felt I would get good value. Cheaper chairs were just not an option as you typically get what you pay for. - ARRIVAL was as promised but regardless, I wouldn't rate a chair based on this criteria. - ASSEMBLY was easy and the instructions were clear. I'm a pretty handy guy so I really had no issue and didn't need a second pair of hands. It is a bit tricky to fasten the back onto the base but with some fiddling, I got them on. There are no extra tools required but if you've got a ratchet with sockets and/or allen attachments, it might go a wee bit faster. I really reefed on the fasteners and there was no feeling of threads being stripped so I think the construction is pretty good. - COMFORT.....I made a modification on the second chair I assembled to make this just a bit better for me. There are some plastic spacers on the bottom front holes where the mechanism attaches. I felt it tilted the chair bottom too far backwards and found it uncomfortable. On the second chair, I cut them in half to lower the front angle and it is much better. I'm going to modify the first one I put together the same way. - LEATHER!?!? it's definitely NOT leather and IF IT IS leather, it's only on the back and bottom surfaces and it's very cheap. The sides are pleather. I'm curious as to how it will wear over time....jury's out on this one. - Rollers - MAJOR OMMISSION!!! - the description does not say anything about the rollers, but the provided rollers are for low pile carpeted floors ONLY. They roll like crap over wood or floor mats and will absolutely scratch the Sh!TZ Creek out of wood floors. There is a tag on the bottom of the chair that states "soft tread casters should be purchased separately" for wood floors or floor mats. This should be in the description and should be an option. Now I have to chuck out these brand news casters and buy soft tread casters!!! The is just wrong. At this price, there should be no surprises like this. - QUALITY outside of the fake leather, the chairs look pretty good. I'm sure the wooden arms will scratch easily so I'd be careful when fastening onto the chair and when in use. The finishing on the wood is not a 10 out of 10. I'd say more of a 6 and then there's the caster thing.....EEEESH!! If, and only IF the description included the caster issue and the angle of the chair bottom was more adjustable forward or front down, I could give the review a 4 star. However, no one should have to modify a $550+ office chair. Bottom line....I wouldn't recommend buying these until they change their caster description and fix the tilt so that it goes more forward/flat. If these changes were made and it was true leather.....I'd give it 5 stars...but it's absolutley NOT a 5 star chair.

Didn't arrive on day it was suppose to. Also holes didn't match in line so they were way off centre when putting together

Chair was assembled with some difficulty. Holes did not line up properly, needed some persuasion to fit the fasteners. sturdiness seems good, controls a little hard to reach because of the chair size, but overall works as exected.
