It was perfect for him, keeping him hydrated on the way without having to stop. It appears to be well-made based on what we've experienced so far. The bladder is easy to get in and out of the pack. This is the best value we saw for a simple 2L hydration bladder on Amazon, and we were not disappointed by its performance. It's especially nice on this model that the mouthpiece can be unscrewed for cleaning. We thoroughly cleaned the item upon unpacking it using baking soda and water and the set of Platypus cleaning brushes. We rinsed it out well and dried it as well as we could, then rolled it up and put it in a bag in the freezer to keep it from getting mildew (once you take it out of the freezer, just run a little warm water over it and it's ready to go). Once on the hike, I asked my son if it had any plastic-like taste and he said it did not at all, and we refilled midway through our hike and he said that water tasted just fine too. We repeated the cleaning cycle upon returning home. I was impressed with how well the bag held up with my son's less-than-thoughtful treatment of it and how stylish it looks. As some may or may not know going to a rave or a music festival can be very hot and sweaty with the mix of the weather and people. I decided that this year I'll purchase a hydration pack and this for sure is a decently good hydration pack - in my opinion. I haven't tried any other ones but this one was at a very good price and slim enough for it not to look like I was a turtle. Also I don't know what people are fussing about not being able to get the water out easily but I don't have to bite down that hard to drink - I just bite with my two front teeth (the middle of my mouth if that makes sense?).The only downside while looking for a hydration pack was the lack of storage space. There are no pockets! HOWEVER I figured out a way that you can put things inside! I've been to EDC NY last year and after attending several other events after, I've come to realization that I don't need to carry certain items nor do I want to carry them haha. After filling the bladder up, I just put my iPhone 5, portable charger (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005K7192G/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), drivers license, debit card, cash and a carmax chapstick all in a ziploc bag then place it outside of the bladder. IT ALL FITS! Just tuck the ziploc bag of items inside either on the side or right on top whichever feels comfortable for it not to look bulky. I put my items towards the side so that it was slightly under the velcro flaps (which are a nice feature).Overall I really would recommend this to someone who needs a "go to" hydration pack for a first timer.PROS:- Slim- Super easy to take the bladder in/out- Light- Mesh straps are a real good idea, breathable- No leaks- Easy adjustable strapsCONS:- No storage space (Read my second paragraph to fix that situation)P.S. I jumped and danced around for awhile with it on (with water inside) to see how comfortable it is and it barely moved. As long as you adjust the arm/chest straps to your liking. I love it! Also I don't know if this happens to other people at music festivals but if someone comes up to when they really need water, all you have to do is point the nozzle downwards and pinch down and water will easily come out (so they don't need to put their mouth on it - ew germs).P.S.S. If you aren't a fan of the nozzle tube, you can easily switch it with a new one. I didn't want it to be another one of those things were I bought the inexpensive knock off brand and it didn't live up to the expectations. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase this.... That was 7 years ago! This has lived up to my expectations and has been put to good use on hikes, runs, and bike rides. I did end up replacing the bladder that came with it, but I also didn't exactly take the best care of it and clean it out after each use. It is fairly comfortable and it's size makes it seem like no weight is added, but it has enough room to store enough liquid for the days activities.
