It is from China and the roller is magnetic but, without a material analysis I don't know what it's made from. It does, for what it is, work well and has been very helpful in the shop. **Q: is the roller supported by a ball bearing?** A: It doesn't feel like it has bearings but it rotates freely. They are easy to adjust. They fold up and store easily under the planer stand that I built. Keeping long boards supported helps minimize snipe. I did have to add some 3D-printed feet to the legs to keep them from rocking because my shop floor is so uneven that the primitive screw adjustment was inadequate. The 3D-printer file is available on the web for free.
