The price was $10 cheaper than Best Buy for the same product and Amazon's performance was outstanding as usual.The mouse has proven to be very dependable and as long as it is a reasonable distance from the receiver, the mouse works flawlessly with our Vista Home Premium based HP Laptop. The laser mouse works on any non-mirrored surface and is superior to optical mice. I am able to sit back on my couch with the mouse on the cloth surface and operate the laptop while it sets on the coffee table. I do not care for the finger control pad on the laptop except in rare instances. I must have a mouse that fits well and is comfortable to use. This mouse fits the bill completely.The mouse comes complete with Duracell batteries (not cheap no-names). The software provided allows quick access to the Logitech website so you may download the latest updates and drivers. The mouse is adjustable to any speed and I have had no problems at all. The mouse also has a switch on the bottom to shut down the mouse when not in use. You may also place the receiver into a cradle in the mouse for transporting. In this position the mouse turns off automatically.I have also purchased the same mouse for use with my XP based desktop and it also works without fail. Since she doesn't use her computer all that much, I went for something on the inexpensive side. The only mice I could find in that category were the ones geared toward laptops. I have always used Logitech laser mice for my machines (currently using the 1000X which I love) and have had very good luck with those, so when I saw this guy at a good price plus a $10 rebate, I thought I'd give it a shot.The mouse works great on my wife's desk which had caused the cursor for the optical mouse to jump all over the place. It now scrolls as smooth as can be. I was concerned by some of the reviews that talked about the smaller size of the mouse, but I have not have any problems at all. I have long and skinny fingers and wasn't sure how it would feel, but it only feels slightly smaller than my 1000x and the difference isn't really noticeable at all when I use it.I can't comment on battery life since we've only had it for a couple of months but it has worked great so far.All in all, this little guy has far exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone, even those looking for something to use with their desktop. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tracking and feature set, not for big hands though *by A***A on Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2007* Instead of lauding the mouse's superior technical capabilities, I defer you to read other posts that have already touched upon these points.However, as I'm a 6'3" male, I noticed that the Logitech V450 is less suitable than at least one of its competition.You may ask, "Didn't you expect a wireless, notebook mouse to be small in stature?"To that I'll reply that, yes, pretty much any wireless notebook mouse would be. As it turns out though, all are not created equal.Before you proceed: Please note that this review is only for the Big-Handed Users. It is absolutely NOT APPLICABLE to those with medium- or small-sized hands. I'm sure this mouse is an absolute pleasure for smaller-sized hands, and chalk up yet another reason why being this big, well, sucks. When shopping around for notebook mice myself, I failed to find good, large-hand reviews. So, this is my contribution.Within just 10-15 minutes of comparing the V450 with a Microsoft 3000, I noticed that the 3000 simply feels more natural, more substantial, and more supportive in my large paw than the V450. (The V450, however, feels like it's heavier and thus a smoother tool to use, probably due to taking 2 AA batteries vs. the 3000's 1 AA battery.)Here might be some reasons why the 3000 fits better to me:- The front (button) half and the rear (supposedly palm rest) half of the 3000's top surfaces slope at a greater degree than the V450's.- The tallest point of the 3000 probably is shorter than the V450's, but is situated more towards the buttons than the V450.- The 3000 appears oh-so-slightly taller than the V450 along the front edge, above the buttons.- The side rubber grip surfaces also feel better with the 3000.This combination of very subtle physical dimension differences somehow seems to give the 3000 an edge over the V450 for big hand / long finger support. I have more places and ways, in more hand positions, to adequately "rest" my 4th and 5th fingers with the 3000 vs. the V450. Also, wheel scrolling with the V450 feels crippling-- which can't be good, since that's my clue that prolonged usage may result in lovely things like CTS and what-not.
