## Description

desertcart.com: AGS Automotive Solutions Lock-Ease Graphite Lock Lubricant – 3oz Aerosol, Prevents Freezing, Reduces Friction, No Residue, Protects Against Wear & Rust : Automotive

Review: Smooths up locks and key operation. Can leave a little black residue. - This works great but as others have stated, it can be a bit messy. Just carry a rag with you to wipe off the key and around the lock after you apply the product. My locks operate smoother than when they were brand new. No complaints.
Review: Surprisingly Good Stuff - Please folks, no more complaints about how messy it is. It -is- messy. Make the effort to protect yourself and any areas you don't want this on if you don't want to clean up afterward. And for the sky-is-falling crowd, a little isopropyl alcohol cleans up spots quickly and beautifully. Applied it to a Titan doorknob lock that has never worked properly since I got it several years ago. Took it apart several times and never found an issue but it would never twist-turn to lock. I suspect there may be a part or two barely bent or out-of-true causing it to bind when fully assembled. No worries .. a couple of shots of this dry lubricant and shazaam!, the twist-turn lock has never operated so smoothly. This task now out of the job jar forever. Installed a rather expensive Larsen three-hook Security Storm door three days ago. The wife was (correctly) complaining about how difficult/hard the internal latching mechanism was for her to set. Appropriate sprays to four different locations and a little repetitive twisting and she's a very happy camper right now. The spray's carrier is pretty volatile (evaporates quickly) so there is no residual moisture or oil in treated areas to leak or stain. What remains is a microfine layer of dry lubricant that seems to stick to surfaces and not shed, flake or settle away from where it's needed. This stuff will work well on housed cables (bikes, 'cycles, speedometers), locks, interior door hinges or any other small area inappropriate for liquid lubricants. And this stuff is also better than silicone for locks. And for folks that lose the spray tube (included), try saving leftover ink pen housings and store the straws in those. You can tape or velcro (whatever) the pen tube to your cabinet or throw it in the toolbox. I've never managed to lose one of these things after storing in a pen tube. All-in-all, it's only a tad pricey but I've worked with a number of graphited products before and this stuff strikes a nice balance.

## Features

- Reduces friction: Graphite is a natural lubricant that helps reduce friction between the lock's internal components, making it easier to turn the key and operate the lock mechanism.
- Prevents freezing: Graphite-based lubricants like Lock-Ease can help prevent locks from freezing in cold weather, as they don't contain water or other substances that can freeze and cause the lock to seize up.
- Reduces wear and tear: The lubricating properties of graphite can help reduce wear and tear on lock components, potentially prolonging the life of the lock.
- No residue buildup: Unlike some oil-based lubricants, graphite-based lubricants typically do not leave a sticky residue that can attract dust and dirt, which may eventually lead to the lock becoming difficult to operate.
- Versatility: Lock-Ease and other graphite-based lubricants can be used on a variety of locks, including padlocks, deadbolts, and automotive locks.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hi, the item came with scratched label, so I can't read the directions. Will you please send me directions?**
A: Shake gently (note that it is a rattle can). Stick the red tube into cap. Stick the red tube into the lock and spray gently (not too much). Give it a minute or two. Stick a key into and out of the lock several times. Turn the key a few times and you are good to go. Go easy on the amount you use because it will stain! No mention is made of what solvent to use in case you do screw up. I have used a damp paper towel which works OK while the stuff is still wet. The rest of the instructions is all the lawyer stuff about use in a well ventillated area and all the calamities that might befall you. I haven't noticed any particular odors nor irritation nor any other problems. Lock-ease works well. As an aside, the label on my can was also torn in a couple of spots. The manufacturer should look into using a label with a bit more staying power than paper held together with tape.mahalo,jo4hn

**Q: Which is better for ignition application, this one or this american grease stick le-4 "lock-ease" graphited lock fluid 3.4 oz.**
A: Not sure, but the theory behind how this product works is this; the can has graphite, and a light lubricant(similar to penetrating fluid) inside it. The lubricant acts as a carrying agent for the graphite; in other words, its main purpose is to mix with the graphite and carry the graphite to the lock mechanism inside. The penetrating fluid evaporates eventually, which is why having the graphite is beneficial; once the lubricant is gone, the graphite stays behind and still provides lubrication for your lock. I am not familiar with the other product you mention, but using the straw and getting this sprayed inside your lock is probably the best way to get some lubrication inside it that will last more than a few weeks. Hope this helps.

**Q: Bluetooth enabled?**
A: Eat about 7 blueberries just before using this product and it will be temporarily Bluetooth enabled. I love the Q & A section here, information is very fruitful.

**Q: Why does the description say 3 cans? I only received one can.**
A: They need to correct the product description. I only received one can (Jan. 2022), although the product info says "3 cans." ???

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great - freed up a sticky lock mechanism on a 1996 Jeep!
*by M***N on January 2, 2022*

The only negative - BUY A BIGGER CAN! You'll end up fixing a lot of little things around the house and your vehicles with this stuff. It's brilliant! We used it on my dad's 1996 Jeep - he had one door that he insisted did NOT work - he couldn't get it to open. We pulled the door panel off and found out that it was just that the OEM white grease they spray up into the mechanisms was all gummed up, and he'd partially bumped the child lock on that door. When he closed the door, it was just enough that when you pushed on the exterior handle/button to open the door, the button couldn't push the old, gummed-up lock mechanism all the way. A few squirts of this stuff and it moved like it was brand new! We ended up popping out all the little access plugs on the doors and spraying ALL the mechanisms, and ALL of them moved MUCH easier. My dad didn't even realize how sticky the rear door hatch lock was until we lubed it. This stuff is something I'll keep handy, as I've got cars ranging from the early 1990's to 2012, and I live in a hot, dry, dusty environment. I liked that this wasn't so over-pressurized like some of the other lubricant sprays that end up spritzing everywhere or foaming all over the place. This brand is easily applied with the little extension tube, doesn't make a huge mess (despite having black graphite in the lubricant mix), and cleans up easily. That may sound like it doesn't matter, but when you need to use this, it's usually where you're holding something open/away with one hand and have to control the spray can with the other, and it's nice not to get sprayed back in the face or make a mess all over the car. :) My dad was so impressed with the job we did on his Jeep that he bought two cans - one to replace mine, and another to keep on hand just in case. A very reasonable solution to sticky locks and hinges in the car.
