I had to hold the hex nut the bolt goes through in place underneath the frame edge with a pair of pliers, then carefully screw the bolt down through the hole into it from the top, with both washers and spacer on the top side to hold the bolt out a little so it couldn't screw down into the panel surface itself. On my panel with a decent-sized frame width it was super easy, and on the really thin-framed one still very doable, so I can't imagine this not working with virtually any panel size or type, if you are willing to make adjustments. These brackets are really necessary to get the most from your solar setup, they offer so much stability and ease of adjustment. I can't believe how long I put off getting them, now that I have them I can't imagine doing without. So useful, easy to adjust, and really excellent quality. My product improvement recommendation is that they need to include larger arms to provide more adjustability an angles in various installation solutions. I suppose if you drilled thru the roof and mounted them with 3/8" bolts and oversized fender washers it could be possible to keep them mounted to the roof. As for keeping the panels attached to the brackets; again, that's a mounting hardware issue. Think about the speed you travel (i.e. 70 mph) and add into that a headwind of 30 mph (plus gusts), you have a combined wind resistance of 100+ mph. Besides the strain on the fasteners and bracket, you would have a hell of a drag impacting your fuel consumption. In short, keep EVERYTHING as low as possible when driving. Reduced drag improves mileage and minimizes the strain on whatever you attach as well as minimizes fuel economy impact. **Q: Are the brackets made of stainless steel?** A: the brackets are aluminum and the fasteners are stainless steel **Q: Did others recieve wing nuts and washers? My package had the plastic head bolts but no nuts...** A: All mounting parts were included in mine. **Q: do you need to ground the aluminum brackets to the vehicle chassis?** A: I didn't bother. Well made product with multiple applications. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good option but not so easy to install *by N***K on March 30, 2024* Bought 4 of these for my DIY solar project. I had Renogy 100w panels and I wanted to install them on two poles. This is what this bracket is for. The assembly is not complicated but may take some time, especially if you have several to assemble. The metal parts are durable aluminum, well made and preform their function well with no issues, will not corrode. But, as the joints are adjustable (so that different angles can be set for the panel) you end up with a thing that needs to be properly leveled and adjusted while being installed on a pole, possibly standing on a ladder. It was not that easy. The U- bracket that connects the mount with the pole is massive and is made for a really thick pole, mine were smaller, so I ended up buying new U-brackets and drilling different holes for those. As both the panel and these mounts were from Renogy I had no issues attaching panels with 4 small brackets that hold each in place.
