The redesign hasn't necessarily improved the product, in my opinion. The older version had long metal legs which went under the mattress and held the bedrail snugly in place. This version uses straps, which are VERY fiddly to fit on a latted bed base, difficult to get any tension in, and fall off every time you move the mattress/change the bedding. We gave up on the straps in the end, and so the bedrail is there more of a reminder to my daughter, than an actual safety device, because if she ever did decide to fall out of bed, it would probably come off with her. It's lasted her best part of a year now without her falling out, but probably more through her learning to sleep in one place than through good design! ### ⭐⭐ Sturdy and well made just silly final design *by S***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2016* Framework that runs under the mates has a piece that sticks up above the mattress at the other side (injury will occur if our little girl rolled into it) so we have had to wraps towel over it. Our 2yr old is in a cot bed so it's not a standard size mattress.the metal tube "may" sit below the mattress on a thicker mattress. I bought my son a different one which is blue. At first I thought this one seemed a bit wobbly and not as secure as the blue one, but that is because this one is on a bed with a toddler mattress which is obviously not as heavy or deep as a normal mattress.
