It holds when tied down and even rotates, a very handy feature. The top portion of the vise became very loose from the base. Upon inspection it appears that the cotter pin came out of the piece that locks the vise to keep it from rotating. My guess was the cotter pin was not properly installed. It is somewhat difficult to reach the pin and to spread the prongs. Hopefully with this repair the vise will perform adequately going forward.
