Brunn et.al. have done well referring to related recipes, including those you haven't seen yet. You'll learn, by example, how to set up a new Odoo instance. The authors give good tips for building a maintanable infrastructure to run your Odoo project. You'll learn how to create and extend Odoo modules. After building out some basic functionality, the authors explain more broad concepts. Don't expect your pace through the book to be linear. The first few chapters may take 1-2 days. Mastering later chapters could take months or more. In this way, Cookbook is instructional and a reference.
