There's a clear, matte sturdy sheet of plastic that goes over that to protect the actual sign/artwork, which will be sandwiched between the two.In the photos you can see my finger separating the plastic protective sheet from the black corrugated cardboard, with the top edge flipped back. The second photo shows the top edge flipped into place. The third photo shows the heavy duty hinge that is only partially open.There are rubber feet on the bottom.My only complaint is that when it is in the upright, closed position, if you try to lift it, (logically by the top edge), the top edge flips up.
