I see the bright orange color but where does it stay?** A: I think most people would keep an item like this in the center console or the glove box on the driver's side door. It does come with a secure mount that could be secured pretty much anywhere in your vehicle with screws or double-stick tape (not included) if you're worried about it getting tossed around in an emergency. **Q: Is the red button at base of clamp for release?** A: That orange dot is decorative. You just pull it off of base. **Q: How much force must I have to break a window?** A: The design of the tool here is key. See the little "nub" at the tip of the hammer? That is the secret. A child can actually use this to break a car window. Search for GLASS BREAKING TOOL on you tube to see the physics of it. These are very effective and often carried by emergency workers because they are more effective than a hammer or crowbar at breaking safety glass. **Q: will this also work on office windows effectively** A: High rise building window glass is very thick (triple pane or more) and made to withstand heavy "hits" from most anything. Panels are about 300 + lbs and designed to take a wind force of 100+ mph. Doubtful it would work. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple, Solid and Smart to Keep in the Car *by J***N on September 2, 2026* The Amazon Basics Emergency Escape Tool is compact, sturdy, and easy to keep within reach in the car. I love the dual heads and the seatbelt cutter is a great addition. My biggest concern is how many people mount these using the cheap, flimsy plastic clip. In a high speed crash, objects can experience 50 Gs or more, meaning they can become dangerous projectiles and fly through the cabin or disappear under a seat when you need them most. I personally keep mine in my glove box and wouldnt trust that little clip, even if it was reinforced. If you run off the road at night and end up in water, you don’t want to be fumbling around looking for an orange handle. You want to know exactly where it is and be able to grab it quickly. I bought this after a friend of mine crashed and drowned during a rainstorm, so this is something I take seriously. Overall, I love the product, but please think carefully about where you mount it. There’s no point in having an emergency tool if you cant reach it when you need it most. ## Frequently Bought Together - Amazon Basics Emergency Seat Belt Cutter and Window Hammer Tool, Car Accessories, 2 Pack, SW-835 - SINGARO Car Cup Holder Coaster, Silicone Cup Holder Insert, Universal Non-Slip Cup Holders, Car Accessories Interior for Women and Man Interior Sets 4 Pack Black - Drop Stop - The Original Patented Car Seat Gap Filler (As Seen On Shark Tank) - Between Seats Console Organizer, Set of 2 and Slide Free Pad and Light --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pe/products/60507915-emergency-escape-tool-window-breaker-and-seatbelt-cutter-car-safety](https://www.desertcart.pe/products/60507915-emergency-escape-tool-window-breaker-and-seatbelt-cutter-car-safety) --- *Product available on Desertcart Peru* *Store origin: PE* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
