Of all foods, I have found this the most effective bait. It is cheap and easy to use: place a small amount on tip of knife or use a wooden (disposable) stir stick to apply in black plastic receptacle. The mice will keep coming to this bait even after many have perished in same place. **Q: Looking at the picture, let's say you kill a mouse. What's to stop another mouse from running over and getting the bait?** A: Well, I’m not sure how that wouldn’t be a potential with any snap traps... but, from my experience, I caught 4 mice with 4 different traps in one night. And I have yet to see any mice return... so, I’ll say the mice seem to avoid the traps that already contain a dead mouse and instead go to the next bait trap. **Q: How do you clean these traps? Do you just wipe them clean or desinfect them with bleach?** A: I disinfect them, using a cleaner with bleach. There has been no blood so far, but they have been covered with ants. A couple of weeks ago I mowed grass and brush surrounding the house (to reduce fire danger) - I must have seen 50 big fat mice scatter from the area I mowed (the mower weighs 500# and it cannot easily be maneuvered to get the mice). I have a real mouse problem in my house - over the years I have trapped dozens of mice.I have used the glue traps and the wooden spring traps and poison - they all work to one degree or another. The glue traps catch one or two mice in a night - but the mice often learn to avoid them so you need to move them around, and eventually what is left is mice that are too experienced to be caught. The wooden spring traps are hard/finicky to set, messy, get blood stained and rusty - although cheap, you generally find yourself buying more. The poison seems to work (the mice chew on it and it often disappears or is found somewhere else, the mice thinking it is food having moved it to stash it) but isn't particularly eco-friendly as whatever eats the mice will ingest the poison too (there are owls nearby, coyotes, raccoons, weasels and other predators that hunt mice).I got these new plastic traps delivered last night, set them out with peanut butter (much easier to bait and set IMO) and within half an hour caught a mouse. By morning I had caught 4 more - 2 of them in the same trap that caught the first one.They snap shut and you can hear them, but they are not as loud as the wooden ones. They are much easier to release the mouse than the wooden traps although the mouse is often not quite dead unless you wait for a bit (maybe 15 minutes) if you are squeamish about terminating them yourself - they are certainly mortally wounded (neck or back broken and probably unable to breathe) and will die. There is no blood (so far) so not messy and much easier to rebait and reset. I imagine that if they do get messy they will be much easier to clean.Glue traps do work (when they work) but they also catch a lot of bugs, are messy when a mouse is caught - you have to terminate the mouse yourself as the mice will often not die for a day or two and often make a mess (defecating). Once used they can't be reused, often get stuck to other things (I stepped on one this morning and got it stuck to my shoe), although inexpensive when bought in bulk. If you have pets then glue traps anywhere a pet can get to are a bad idea. I burn the traps (along with the dead mice) as I don't want to have anything else get stuck to them and you can't remove the mouse from them. I have had a few mice get caught and then get unstuck too.These plastic traps will be useful, but it remains to be seen if remaining mice will still get trapped by them. I rebaited with peanut butter and noticed some of them are now missing the bait. I don't know if it as a really small mouse that got to the bait or if it was ants, but I decided to rebait with cherrios this AM - we'll see how that works - I crammed the cherrio into the hole in a way that would force the mice to try to pull it from the hole, thereby hopefully exerting enough force against the trip platform to set off the trap.All in all, I recommend these as part of an effort to get rid of mice in a building where there are no pets (pets might trip them and the spring is very strong so it might injure a pet). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works better after I tweaked my bait! I was looking forward to receiving my order with the recent mouse problem in my garage. It appears that sometimes the mouse doesn't set off the trap. I caught three mice within 48 hours and when I checked the other traps I realized the bait had been eaten and the trap didn't go off. I don't know if the mice are too small or if the trap isn't sensitive enough, but I didn't read anywhere how to set the trap to be more sensitive for small mice. At any rate, they are easy to set! I hate putting my fingers on the old wooden ones and found difficulty setting them. I am going to try again and add new bait. Wish me luck! ****UPDATE**** I switched to my all time favorite mouse trap SECRET BAIT that works really well. You might not have heard of this, but it was my 8 year old son who tried this first and it's like a miracle! I've been using it for over 20 years now, but when I read these reviews, advocating using peanut butter and cheese, the traps worked only half the time. Here's our famous family mousetrap secret bait..... Take a chocolate chip, put it under hot water until it starts to melt, then push the melty choco chip in the feeder of the trap. When it dries it becomes hard and the mouse has to work at it. Since I switched my bait back to what I know works, these traps are working GREAT!! I have been getting a mouse everytime I check the traps!!! Just because I want to get rid of vermin, there’s no reason to make them suffer. Plus mice are smart and will parkour right over them. Baits leave dead smelly mice in your walls or behind furniture and that’s really unpleasant to clean up. These traps are tempting, strong, and deliver a quick death.It’s a little tricky to clean the peanut butter out of the little cup, but if it hasn’t sat around too long, it’s not really that bad. The fact that they are plastic and you can clean them makes them very reusable and a great value.It’s also a one-handed operation to dispose of the mouse without touching it.
