My husband, the credentialed chef, refuses to use it; but I, who dabbles in making salad dressings, was super pleased with it.✫ Feels hefty and sturdy in my hand.✫ The part that sinks into the hole and pushes the garlic down is stationary. I remember this moved back and forth on my mother's many, many years ago. Don't know if that's a perk or problem, but I didn't have any issues.✫ Not stainless steel. It never claimed to be but I was kinda hoping it still would be. It's made out of a very heavy metal that looks like it might have been painted a brushed nickel color.✫ I had no intention of using the silcone peeler but gave it a shot before I threw it out.
