BUT installed you can not tell! I think they look great and the price is a bonus. You can really bend and mangle them a bit and they bounce back to their original shape and I used kids scissors to cut them. Highly impressed. Review: Good product. A few things to know... - I was worried after reading the reviews but I didn’t have any problems. Since these are so lightweight I just put them WITH my old ceiling tiles. The weight of the old tiles keeps these from jumping or shifting when the door slams. All mine came in perfect condition. To cut them I used a very sharp box cutter and didn’t have any problems. We have a ceiling air vent in one of our tiles. These are not sturdy enough for that so, again, I just left the old sturdy tile and put a new one with a cutout for the vent. However, this stuff is not cheap. It approximately $1.50 per sf. A 500 sf basement is going to cost you $750.00 and that is without buying anything to cover the existing grid.
