I prefer mine in an 'easy' state. Runny yolks, mostly white with little or no translucent surrounding. For that I bring the water to a slow boil, put the eggs in the cups and cook for 4 1/2 minutes. My ex liked hers cooked for 6 minutes so the yolk was mostly solid and absolutely no jiggle from the white. **Q: How often do you burn your fingers while trying to take out the cups ??? Or do you have to use gloves ?** A: Never! I lift the cup tray out and place it on my counter. That lifts the cups away from the tray, and then the handles are cool enough to grab with my bare hands. Never a problem with burning myself! **Q: Is this dishwasher safe and rustproof** A: I have only washed it in the dishwasher and it is fine. No rust since I have owned it. Great poacher. **Q: How much water do you put in the pan?** A: There is a water fill line in the pan on one side.
