For me it stays up quite well, but I have shapely thighs, so that probably helps. I pulled something in my hip/groin (I actually believe it is a hamstring tendon). It was bothering me on and off for several days, until I had to be on my feet for a lengthy period of time. It flared so bad and extended into my knee and I could barely walk. Rest has been the best thing, but this helps when that's not possible. Very minimal pain while I'm wearing it. XL comes on easy , and gives very little compression but it gives some support to sore Thighs not too tight and not loose . It feels just smidge bigger than Large ( 21-22 maybe ) .
