If you leave the FPGA unprogrammed, it will still draw a little bit of power ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ this product is not the original from RHS Research *by N***P on September 19, 2024* PicoEVB was opened sourced but just an FYI, this product was not built by RHS Research, Dave Reynolds who designed and built the first PicoEVBs. It may be of the same quality and it may not be. Nothing is written here which is different to explain this or explain testing which has occurred to guarantee the same functionality.I bought one of Dave's a few years back but the supply dried up. Happy to see if someone else is able to build them in substantial quantities and they work. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best low cost PCIe FPGA solution *by S***B on June 1, 2018* The PicoEVB is the least expensive PCIe FPGA solution that i could find. It was really easy to get it working on Linux, Windows was more difficult because of Windows overly protective driver signing, but i got it working pretty quick. All the necessary starter code and product information is on Github so getting into development was quick and painless. The only downside with this device is that it requires an M.2 A/E key since it needs USB for the FTDI interface, and most modern laptops only have one such port which wifi / bluetooth normally occupies. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little FPGA to have actually in laptop *by D***L on June 1, 2018* I went searching for a portable FPGA development kit and found this. Great little FPGA to have actually in laptop, but I have one in a PCIe adapter in my desktop as well. I used it for hardware accelerated algorithm design. I was able to speak with the creator about it and he was extremely helpful in pointing out where my design needed improvement.
