We were having a little trouble getting them to fit over the hinge, sowe just screwed it directly onto the inside of the cabinet door. That works! When you open the door, the light turnson so that you can see. I have them installed on 20 hinges in my houseboat. Unfortunately, they won't fit on our recently installed new home cabinets that have much wider and shorter hinges. I'm not happy about that and will be on the lookout for something to fit. I may trim one of these mounts and test it's fit. These are 5-star worthy! Once adjusted (easy) they come on so quickly sometimes I wonder if they had ever turned off, but they do. My wife loves having the lighted interior of the cabinet... much easier to find items in the cabinet.
