All butane torch lighters are safe for food **Q: Why won't this work with short-stem butane refill tanks? Such a hassle. Won't fill up. What exact butane gas product do you recommend to buy?** A: I've had the same experience the other torch lighters. After trying different butane products, the butane gas product I use now is Called Neon Lighter Butane. The stem is standard size, but has different adapters in the cover, which are popped out if needed. This come in a yellow can. I have no problem filling these torches with I hope this helped.
