Poetry Matters is an excellent literary resource, for children and parents alike. I purchased this to better understand poetry from a teachers perspective... to be able to support my son in his poetry Reading/ writing unit at school . I found MYSELF inspired to write after reading this gem of a book! It’s simple, well written, thoughtfully organized and gets right to the heart of poetry. Which is exactly where effective writing begins (regardless of genre)... from the inside out! Thank you Ralph!!!

    Excellent Creative Writing Resource for Children, Parents, and Teachers

This book is written for a children's audience - 8 years old and up - but I as an adult writer with kids found it very helpful. I was looking for a book that explained poetry and poetic writing concepts simply and this book was excellent. It is a wonderful resource for kids who are interested in creative writing, teachers who are looking for creative writing resources, and poets of any age looking to brush up their skills. Thanks for this helpful book, Ralph!

One of the best books I have ever read on writing poetry. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has taken up writing poetry and wants to improve their writing. Clearly-written with many wonderful stories by poets who share their experience and their angst.
